Getting started with RPA

Our clients have typically started the RPA journey in one of two ways.

  1. Tactical deployment

Frequently clients come to us having recognised the opportunities that RPA presents. These clients are keen to commence an RPA pilot project to introduce their staff to the concepts and potential application of RPA.

In these cases, we will run a one or two day workshop to identify processes suitable for automation and to discover what will give our client quick wins. After the workshops, we provide a quote to configure the robot and provide licensing to run it. Utilising this approach provides two distinct benefits:

  1. A pilot robot can be put into production, typically within three to four weeks providing an immediate return on investment.
  2. The pilot is used to educate the organisation on the potential of RPA and to demonstrate to senior management the low risk / high ROI that RPA is able to provide.

  1. Strategic deployment

Some organisations prefer to take a strategic approach to implementing robotic process automation. In this situation, they are seeking to understand the extent of the opportunity that RPA provides and specifically:

  • The financial benefits that can be generated.
  • The costs associated with licensing, development and maintenance.
  • The organisational impacts to staff and structure when deploying robots into the business.
  • The impacts and implication on their organisation’s technical infrastructure.
  • The governance model that will be required to deploy and manage robots, while aligning this activity to other improvement initiatives that may be underway.

We have taken many organisations on this journey and have a proven methodology that produces a comprehensive business case that addresses all the factors detailed above, as well as providing and a roadmap for deployment of RPA.
